Working together to ensure good Flemish administration
The Flemish authorities want to reinforce the Flemish character of the Vlaamse Rand and enhance its livability and quality of life. It extends the hand of hospitality to non-Dutch speakers, but expects them to show respect for the Dutch language and Flemish culture. In the pursuit of this policy it joins forces with all the actors involved in this area.
Task Force
The policy of the Flemish authorities takes shape in the work of the ‘Vlaamse Rand Task Force’. This official workgroup is headed by the governor of the Province of Vlaams-Brabant. All the Flemish ministers appoint expert delegates from the administration for their own policy area. The npo ‘de Rand’ and the Province of Vlaams-Brabant are also represented in the Task Force. Its secretariat is provided by the Vlaamse Rand Coordination Unit.
Documents
The main outlines of the Flemish Government’s policy in the Vlaamse Rand are laid down in the 2004-2009 policy document issued by the relevant Flemish minister, Frank Vandenbroucke. This policy document is transformed into concrete measures every year in a policy paper.
