Dessert grapes
Dessert grapes from Overijse and its neighbouring municipality of Hoeilaart are still one of the best and best-known products. This very labour-intensive cultivation yields grapes of superior quality which have now acquired a European label (Protected Designation of Origin). The Grape Museum in Overijse outlines the history of viticulture in the area and offers a complete picture of grape growing.
Soil-grown chicory
The soil-grown chicory of Vlaams-Brabant also has Protected Designation of Origin. It is grown in the ground and is among the best in the world. Its balance between sweetness and bitterness and its crisp texture make this chicory the favourite of top chefs. The Chicory Museum in Kampenhout tells you everything you ever wanted to know about this ‘white gold’. |
